Synoptic analyses in the Gulf Stream

A clear day is a perfect day for synoptic analyses in the Gulf Stream. Strong current and eddies have been drawn using Syntool drawing tools. They have been improved with additional features, touch screen capabilities and more intuitive controls. Some features have been drawn using Chlorophyll-a from Sentinel-3 OLCI and others using SST from Sentinel-3 SLSTR. You can play with transparency on the OVL to look at the signature of the ocean dynamics on both geophysical variables. The streamlines represent the geostrophic current derived from Altimetry (CMEMS/GlobCurrent), some sharp turns and small eddies are missed due to the lack of spatio-temporal resolution.
