Myriad of submesoscale features in the Arabian sea

This is the time of the year where submesoscale activity develops in the Arabian sea and can be observed using Chlorophyll-a from Sentinel-3 OLCI sensor.
Indeed, during winter, the Mixed Layer Depth deepens to reach typically more than 100m. The enhanced vertical mixing and nutrient influx during winter due to submesoscale processes boost biological productivity, unveiling abundant filamentation and frontogenesis.
